Our entry- National Kitchen & Bathroom contest for 2022
This lovely Point Loma residence hadn’t been updated since the mid-70s when we stepped in to re-imagine its look and layout.
The Design team moved walls, added lots of glass, and created a cohesive color & finish palette (that will be easy to build on in years to come)
The primary bath renovation will be entered into this year’s National Kitchen & Bath makeover of the year contest, so make sure to look at the before photos to get the full impact!
Design Intention
Maintaining the architectural relevance of its Mid-Century modern roots, the design team worked to incorporate the original pitched roof, multiple skylights, and original glass block of the shower’s external wall designed in the mid-1970s into their new primary bathroom plan. The team focused on a blend of today’s most glamorous and modern touches with tech-savvy integrations to ensure the space was the ultimate functional and beautiful environment for its occupants.
The owners of this lovely spa-inspired bathroom requested 3 important things:
- Ensure they had enough deep storage drawers in each of the two vanities (with power integrated right inside the drawers) for their bathroom appliances and daily-use items.
- Maintain the original framework of the space with its unusual ceiling pitch and glass block shower facade.
- Add a “wow factor” and touches of glamour that elevate the space from everyday luxury to one that would sell the home with just a few snapshots ( their original intent was to place the home on the market after completion). Once completed, the owners loved it so much that they decided not to list it, but instead to love it!
